The platinum ring method is a traditional testing method with a history of approximately 70 years. It uses a platinum wire with a diameter of 0.37mm to form a ring with a circumference of 60mm. During the test, the platinum ring is first immersed 2-3mm below the liquid surface (or the interface of two immiscible substances), and then slowly lifted upward. A film will form between the ring and the liquid surface. This film exerts a downward pulling force on the platinum ring. The maximum force exerted by the film on the ring during the entire lifting process of the platinum ring is measured, and then converted into the actual surface (interfacial) tension value.
The HTSZ-800 automatic surface and interfacial tension meter accurately measures the surface tension value of liquids based on the [principle of the platinum ring method].
