The HT-4507 automatic asphalt softening point tester complies with the provisions of GB/T4507 “Test Method for Softening Point of Petroleum Asphalt”. It is suitable for determining the softening point of various asphalts such as road petroleum asphalt, coal tar asphalt, and liquid petroleum asphalt. It is also applicable to determine the softening point of residues after distillation of liquid petroleum asphalt or demulsification and evaporation of emulsified asphalt.
An asphalt sample is placed in a copper ring of specified size with a steel ball of specified size and weight. Under specified heating conditions (the temperature rises by 5℃±0.5℃ per minute), the heating temperature when the softened sample moves down to a specified distance (25.4mm) is the softening point of the sample.
